The Bicycle Coalition is managed by our members and stakeholders through our Committee Structures. This system launched in 2009 with the realization that too much decision making was involved with our growing organization to limit the responsibility to just our Board of Directors. We encourage anyone involved in these areas to join in our decision-making process through participating in one of our committees listed below:

  • Bici Centro Shop committee invites all stakeholders, such as shop users, occasional volunteers, donors, and especially our fully-vested volunteers "partners-in-grime" to help manage our open shop, bicycle recycling, and education center facility concerns
  • Education committee oversees our classes and our partnerships. We host after-school and summer programs for youth, and mechanic and street skills classes for adults. Our partnerships include Safe Routes to School, and Partnership for fit youth.
  • Finance committee oversees management of financial resources and includes budgeting and fund raising management. 
  • Events committee is the home of CycleMAYnia as well as hosting our bike valet events and any official public or member-only event of the bicycle Coalition.
  • CAM: Communications, Advocacy, and Membership committee is the venue for member concerns, membership growth, all communications to the community at large, as well as the extensive advocacy-work of the coalition.                
  • Spanish Language Outreach subcommittee is responsible for overseeing and implementing our efforts to engage the Spanish-speaking cyclist community.
  • Board of Directors - This group formally oversees all committees and governs the bicycle coalition overall, and meetings are open to the public. We strongly recommend future board directors to participate in subject committees before applying to become a board member.
  • Executive Committee- This is a sub-group of the board of directors. This is the only committee that is not open to the public, however, members of the public may be invited to speak with us on a pressing subject from time to time.

    This committee is open to anyone that wants to know about upcoming bicycling events, wants to share upcoming bicycling events with the rest of the group or wants to get involved in volunteering or organizing bicycling events.  These meetings are fun not boring!

    At this meeting we will approve the final calendar of events for CycleMAYnia 2012 and talk about volunteer needs for these events.
